AN ELEGANT AFFAIR

Simplicity and elegance is the theme of this cake

I recently had the opportunity to make a cake for my sister's cocktail party and she chose a cake that was simply beautiful and elegant. My hubby said the cake  looked like a lady's hat. And I must say, he is right.  

The midnight blue color of the of the cake was achieved by combining two-parts blue to one-part purple with a hint of black. The lace was made by applying a thin strip of fondant to a lace mold and the rose was made using a five petal cutter.
